Everyday help and advice

Free everyday help and advice for refugees and others from an ethnic minority background.

The Everyday Help and Advice takes place at Silkeborg Public Library and is run by volunteers from the Danish Refugee Council Silkeborg.

When is the Everyday Help and Advice open?

In 2023, it is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3-6 PM, except during school holidays.

What can you get help with?

  • reading and understanding letters from the municipality and other authorities
  • using MitID
  • making appointments with authorities
  • applying for or extending a passport
  • applying for or extending a residence permit
  • filling out papers for family reunification
  • writing job applications and CVs
  • applying to the municipality for support for childcare, leisure activities, expenses for electricity, water, etc.
  • joining a study group for the citizenship test
  • applying for Christmas Aid
  • various other challenges you may have

Which languages do we speak?

We have volunteers who speak Arabic, Kurdish, Dari, Farsi, English and German. Feel free to bring a family member who can interpret if you speak other languages. Interpreting services are available in Ukrainian and Russian.
